Ariel “MVP” Perez-Hinojosa, 23, of Danbury was arrested Thursday for a variety of drug-related following the search of his Danbury residence, his phone, and his car, Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams.
While Perez-Hinojosa was the target of the operation, another man, Nicholas Vito Alosco, 29, of Bethel, was also arrested after he was seen allegedly buying illegal drugs from Perez-Hinojosa.
"The investigation leading to the arrest was weeks long and began after receiving citizen complaints related to Perez-Hinojosa selling illicit drugs from his apartment and throughout the city," Williams said.
The search took place around 10 a.m. when officers with the Danbury Police Special Investigations Division, with the assistance of officers from the Patrol Division and General Investigations Division, established a surveillance of 31 Division St., police said.
During the course of the surveillance, investigators watched Perez-Hinojosa and Alosco engage in a hand to hand transaction. After leaving, Alosco was stopped and a number of illicit drugs were seized.
Investigators executed the warrants for Perez-Hinojosa, around 4:30 p.m. where they seized a substantial quantity of suspected fentanyl, cash, and drug paraphernalia, Williams said.
Alosco was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on a promise to appear summons.
Perez-Hinojosa was charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance,
- Possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell,
- Sale of a controlled substance,
- Possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school with the intent to sell, Possession of a controlled substance within 1500’ of a school,
- Sale of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school,
- Operating a drug factory, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is being held on $100,000 bond.
